The People

Colorado Springs

We are

Through outreach, advocacy, lobbying and nonviolent direct action, we work with and for people experiencing poverty, prejudice, and homelessness to secure dignity, rights, and a community where everyone has a place to call home.

The Coalition for Compassion and Action (a 501(c)4 non-profit) has a sister-organization dedicated to helping our friends who are surviving outside navigate back to stabilization and housing called BLACKBIRD OUTREACH (a 501(c)3 non-profit).

Ending the homelessness crisis our city faces may seem like an impossible goal. Every year the numbers of adults, families with children, and youth experiencing homelessness on the streets is growing at an alarming rate, but we can make a difference. The Coalition for Compassion and Action (CCA) has developed multiple strategic initiatives that address the homelessness crisis at its root causal factors and address the gaps in service and assistance encountered every day by folks trying to survive on the streets of Colorado Springs. The most important ingredient to ending this crisis is YOU. Learn more about how to get involved with our strategic initiatives.

The Coalition for Compassion and Action (CCA) is a social welfare 501(c)4 organization dedicated to confronting the criminalization of homelessness, the systemic barriers, and the abuses faced by people experiencing homelessness in Colorado Springs. We create change and accountability through political lobbying, non-violent community-organizing, and advocacy. Become a voice for the voiceless.

Blackbird Outreach is a volunteer-powered 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to on-the-ground outreach to find and assist our neighbors experiencing homelessness face-to-face, heart-to-heart. Volunteer through 3 different levels of care: outreach, services navigation, and after housing follow-up.

There are many robust service providers and agencies in place in Colorado Springs. We aren’t trying to replicate any of them. By examining the gaps in services encountered everyday by our Blackbird Outreach clients and friends, we have developed a number of strategic initiatives and solutions that will radically improve the crisis faced by so many outside today.
